To get started with J-Pop you first need to actually do some listening to j-pop. Visit my post on “Online Japanese Music Radio Stations” to get started listening right now.
Next is to get started listening and finding artists you like. I asked on twitter if people had any suggestions on what they like J-Pop wise. Here are their replies.

There are some songs and bands for you. The next step is to get the CD/Album whatever and listen and learn more about them to start branching out beyond those to really start reaching into JPop. Hopefully, this is a good primer to get you more into J-Pop.
