However, it is important to start learning names to better remember names and get along using the language. The Japan Times released an article with the top 100 most common family names in japan.

Wow! Interesting stuff. I think I have worked with at least 3 people from each of the surnames. I guess that these are the 'Smith', 'Jones' and 'Brown' of Japan.
That is one reason I posted it because it is interesting to see the most popular names. Though if I had my guess the top would have been Suzuki mostly because I don’t hear of Sato that much.
